This is a clip from Lothar Schafer talk at Science and Nonduality Conference 2012 in San Rafael, CA. For the complete talk please visit: fora.tv/conference/science_and_nonduality_sand_conference_2012
The phenomena of quantum physics show that the dualistic empirical world has a non¬dual foundation in a non-empirical realm of the universe, in which all things and people are interconnected. We must now think that the basis of the material world is non-material and that an invisible part of reality exists that doesn’t consist of material things, but of non-material forms. These forms are real, even though they are invisible, because they have the potential to act in the empirical world: they form a realm of potentiality in physical reality, and all things and thoughts are emanations out of this realm. There are indications that the forms in the realm of potentiality are contiguous like the water waves in an ocean, so that the physical reality is an undivided wholeness. Since everything comes out of the wholeness and belongs to it, including our consciousness, consciousness is a cosmic property and our thinking is the thinking of a cosmic spirit who is thinking in us. The nondual foundation of reality makes it possible to establish a world order on cooperation rather than competition; and on love rather than aggression.
Lothar Schäfer is a Distinguished Professor of Physical Chemistry (emeritus) at the University of Arkansas. His research in the areas of Physical Chemistry, Electron Diffraction, Applied Quantum Chemistry, and Computational Chemistry led his team to develop the first real-time gas electron diffraction instrument in which diffraction data are recorded on-line, enabling the first pulsed-beam, Time-Resolved Electron Diffraction studies of laser-excited molecules. Additionally, they performed the first quantum chemical geometry determinations of peptide molecules, predicting structural trends in proteins a decade before they were experimentally observed. He is the author of the book, “In Search of Divine Reality - Science as a Source of Inspiration which has been translated in Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. Since 1998, Dr. Schaffer has given more than 160 public lectures in the US and abroad.

Question: When we say that we must come to the end of the mind, that we must exhaust the mind, is it a necessary process, something which must happen, or is it possible to have an insight without the mind being exhausted?
