SAND 2016 @ Esalen

Continuous awakening
SAND presents:

Continuous Awakening – Nonduality in the Midst of Life

February 28 – March 4, 2016

with Rupert Spira, Dorothy Hunt, Jeff Foster, Peter Russell, Sally Kempton, Helen Palmer and Ellen Emmet

WORKSHOP DETAILS
Many of us have experienced some form of realization and are beginning to recognize ourselves as awareness. What does it take for our understanding to fully penetrate body and mind and to be lived as a permanent reality, fully embodied in the world? Is there a process of unfolding and stabilizing of our nondual understanding? What is awakening in the midst of dally life and relationships? While life expresses itself in continuous flux of perceptions, feelings, thoughts and experience, how do we remember and know ourselves as pure awareness?

Through talks, intimate dialogues, guided meditations and movement, this retreat will offer the opportunity to pause from our busy lives and habitual reactions, while finding home in the present moment, where we are always free, infinite and undivided.

The workshop runs from the evening of Feb 28th to 11am on March 4.

Rupert Spira
Rupert Spira

From an early age Rupert was deeply interested in the nature of Reality. For twenty years he studied the teachings of Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Shankaracharya, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, twelve years ago. Francis introduced Rupert to the teaching of Jean Klein, Parmenides, Wei Wu Wei and Atmananda Krishnamenon and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience.

Jeff Foster

Jeff Foster studied Astrophysics at Cambridge University. In his mid-twenties, after a long period of depression and illness, he became addicted to the idea of 'spiritual enlightenment' and embarked on an intensive spiritual quest for the ultimate truth of existence. The spiritual search came crashing down with the clear recognition of the non-dual nature of everything, and the discovery of the extraordinary in the ordinary. In the clarity of this seeing, life became what it always was: intimate, open, loving and spontaneous, and Jeff was left with a deep understanding of the root illusion behind all human suffering, and a love of the present moment.

SAND14_Peter-Russell
Peter Russell

Weaving his unique blend of scientific rationale, global vision, and intuitive wisdom, Peter brings a sharp, critical mind to the challenge of self-awakening. The next great frontier of human exploration, he shows, is not outer space, but inner space—the development of the human mind. He has degrees in theoretical physics, experimental psychology, and computer science from the University of Cambridge in England, and has written ten books in this area, including The Global Brain Awakens, Waking Up in Time, and most recently, From Science to God: A Physicist’s Journey into the Mystery of Consciousness.

Ellen’s deepest longing for the absolute was fulfilled when she met her teacher, Francis Lucille. In his presence, over many years, she awakened to her true nature of peace and happiness through continuous and deepening glimpses.
