Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D. Introduction to the Shamanic Journey 3 CEs Available for additional $30 (pre-conference workshop) Wednesday, October 23, 2019 4–7pm
The Shamanic Journey is a method of accessing inner wisdom through a meditative state. It is derived from a practice done by the healers, or shamans, of indigenous shamanic cultures. It is performed to gain insight and effect healing, and has been a common practice of many indigenous cultures for thousands of years. Isa Gucciardi, Ph.D., is an early pioneer of adapting the shamanic journey to a therapeutic practice. Her unique style of teaching the journey includes a process of inquiry that is transformative and helps students to help their clients engage fully into their own personal power.
Betsy Polatin The Physics of Nonduality (The Embodiment of Nonduality)
3 CEs Available for additional $30 (pre-conference workshop) Thursday, October 24, 2019 9am–12pm
This workshop is an opportunity to discover the unity of body, mind, and spirit based on the tensegrity model. Betsy will offer hands-on guidance and simple exercises to enhance sensory skills by exploring the musculoskeletal, respiratory, and nervous systems, and how they relate to the larger universe. Through group exercises and one on one instruction, you will learn to help your clients increase body awareness and breathing capacity, to change inefficient habits, so that they can move with ease and speak with confidence. Learn to awaken inherent potential by finding the support from the ground that can lead to full stature and expansion, while noting how trauma and overwhelm can interfere with this process.
Mark Wolynn Break the Cycle of Inherited Family Trauma 3 CEs Available for additional $30 (pre-conference workshop) Thursday October 24, 2019 1:50pm–5:05pm
In this workshop, we’ll explore the unexplained fears, anxieties, depression, obsessive thoughts and chronic conditions that are biologically inherited from our parents and grandparents—symptoms we often think are ours. Through lectures, interactive group work and family constellations, participants will learn how to help clients break biologically inherited patterns so they can live healthier, happier, more fulfilled lives.
Our conscious experiences are an enigma. They are intimate and familiar—an essential companion each moment, as we taste coffee, smell a rose, or savor a sunset. Yet they’re also deeply confounding: a hodgepodge of conflicting emotions, competing desires, deep insights, self-deceptions, and untamed thoughts that trespass the silence of meditation. We are eye-witness experts of our conscious experiences—and mystified amateurs. Why?
Discoveries in clinics, advances in technology, and breakthroughs in science are converging to illuminate this most personal mystery. We now see the outline, and many fascinating pages, of a user guide to human consciousness. This guide is already exploited by corporations to manipulate consumers and maximize profits. But it also offers us tools to understand ourselves, enhance our relationships, and craft societies that promote the better angels of our nature. It provides new insights into pressing questions: Can AI become conscious? Is there free will?
In this workshop, we delve into the user guide for consciousness—the tools within it, the breakthroughs behind it, and how to apply it. We meet patients whose left hand fights their right; stroke victims who deny their hemi-paralysis, until cold water is put in their left ear; a twin who can see, literally, through the eyes of her sister; a man whose brain is split, with the right half an atheist and the left a believer in God. We see how optogenetics, with the flick of a light, can switch on a memory and its emotion; how an arachnophobe can be cured overnight, by touching a spider and taking propranolol.
