Susan Mokelke

Experience core shamanism—as originated and developed by Michael Harner—the universal and near-universal methods of the shaman to enter nonordinary reality for problem solving and healing. Travel outside of time, as shamans have done for centuries, in the classic shamanic journey, one of the most remarkable visionary methods used by humankind to explore the hidden universe otherwise known mainly through myth and dream.

Aided by drumming to experience the shamanic state of consciousness, you will have the opportunity to access other dimensions of reality and the beneficial spirit helpers found there. Learn how the journey is utilized to restore spiritual power and health, and how shamanism can be applied in contemporary daily life to help heal oneself, others, and the Planet.

Please bring a rattle or a drum if you have one. Wear comfortable clothing, warm socks, and bring a bandanna, cushion and/or blanket (if available), and a pen and notebook to record your experience.

Susan Mokelke will facilitate the workshop. Susan is the Executive Director of the Foundation for Shamanic Studies (www.shamanism.org) and co-teaches workshops with Michael Harner. She has trained extensively in the Two Week Shamanic Healing Intensives and the Three-Year Programs in Advanced Initiations in Shamanism and Shamanic Healing – as well as teaching the new Pacific Northwest Summer Three Year Program. Susan has written several articles on shamanism, including “Effective Core Shamanic Drumming Circles,” “Ethical Considerations in Shamanic Healing,” and “Core Shamanism and Daily Life” (see www.shamanism.org, articles section) She is the editor of the Foundation’s scholarly journal, the Shamanism Annual, and the FSS E-Newsletter.

Susan has had a lifelong interest in creativity. She has composed two CDs of healing songs - Teachings from the Spirits (originally produced by FSS) and Be a Light - and has written a fantasy novel, Roseheart.
