The experiential room program is organized by the Conscious Dancer magazine team. Conscious Dancer is a celebration of transformation through movement. Our motto is our mission, "movement for a better world." We believe positivity is found in the present moment, and the mind-body connection opens the door. From ecstatic to somatic, personal to pan-cultural, our goal is to bring the moving arts lifestyle to the world. We are grateful to serve as a connector for movement communities around the world through our magazine, website, and online directory. Find Your Joy (Stop Trying so Hard, and Just Enjoy!) 8:00-9:00am
Joy Winkler (Joy Yoga Center) One of the most powerful tools for transformation is the ability to be completely happy and at peace wherever you are. The principle of “what we resist, persists” applies not only to our lives, but to our yoga practice, as well. When we struggle and fight our way through our yoga practice, we become stuck. In this playful yet challenging vinyasa flow class, Joy encourages you to bring a child-like ease and glee to your practice again, by moving for the pure enjoyment of the movement. Find your joy by appreciating where your body is right now, in each and every posture. Rather than focusing on all the “rules and regulations” of yoga, let’s get back to moving in a way that is fun and natural for each individual. Moana Diamond A movement exploration- discovering the pelvic floor and more that encompasses working from core.Starting with micromovement , moving on to elements of pilates, chi-gung and yoga traveling on to world dance, elements of jazz, modern and latin .
Moving from center From the smallest small to the largest leap , moving with breath , balance and ease from center.
Moana started as a modern dancer at age 5 in a barn in Connecticut “ dancing like a tree, like fire , like the wind”.She graduated at age 7 to Olatunji’s African dance center in Harlem and later as a teen to Martha Graham and Alvin Ailey schools in NYC.
Later as a theater performer, dancing singing and acting her injuries started her on an exploration of healing through study of therapeutic movement including pilates .Moana has taught pilates , yoga and dance for over 10 years.
Anat Baniel Method: “Access Your Brain to Transform Your Life” 12:00-1:30pm
Neil Sharp, M.D. Neil Sharp, M.D. will outline the fundamental principles behind The Anat Baniel Method. Employing concepts from the science of brain plasticity, the method achieves remarkable outcomes in enhancing physical and cognitive function. The work can be applied both for prevention from deterioration of and for recovery and the enhancement of function. It helps people live more fully, with independence and vigor long into their “old” age provides a powerful drug free solution to pain relief, takes high performing athletes and musicians to their next level and transforms the lives of special needs children and their families. The principles and practices can be easily understood, adopted and applied by other modalities as well as in the course of everyday life.Lecture, experiential exercises, and videos will be used to demonstrate outcomes and elucidate some of the concepts, theory and practices of the Anat Baniel’s approach. Participants will learn about conditions that are required for the brain to form new connections and patterns. This brings about immediate changes on the physical, emotional, and mental levels reducing aches and pains and increasing vitality, health and wellness.
