Unravelling the great pretence of who you think you are with Unmani
We pretend that we have forgotten who we really are. We pretend that we are someone living a life with very important beliefs and ideas that define us. And yet somehow beyond it all, we already know that we are not limited to what we think or believe.
Sometimes this game of pretending can be very painful. When thoughts are believed in, when a separate identity is believed in, the physical sensations that go along with that are contracted, closed, fearful and painful. This is why we start searching for a way out of this pain. Depending on how painful and how unbearable it is, our search becomes more desperate. We try everything, we practice anything, just for some relief. And sometimes there are moments or periods of relief or even joy and peace, but then it all starts again and the pain and longing returns.
In this workshop with Unmani, we explore the way it really is beyond the pretence. Recognising who you really are, you know that whatever pain or pleasure happens, happens in that. No matter how much you wish some experiences would stay forever or some experiences would go away, who you really are includes the pain, just as much as it includes the joy. That is the fact of life. It is not about trying to escape or fix the pain, or about trying to maintain a consistent experience of joy (which can be so exhausting), but simply facing the reality of the way it is right now. Really honestly seeing what is actually here. With willingness and courage to see thought for what it really is, life starts to open up.
In this workshop, Unmani invites you to come up and have a dialogue with her. This dialogue it is the opportunity to share, ask and explore what is real for you. It is rare with a 'teacher', to be able to have such specific and personal attention to whatever you wish to explore. Unmani is not interested in just speaking about non-dual concepts. No matter what it is, Unmani accompanies you down that pathway so that you can recognise the clarity and truth beyond all the words and concepts, for yourself.
Unmani is originally from the UK, but has lived a nomadic life in many countries around the world from the age of18. Unlike most people, since she was a child, Unmani never identified with the role she seemed to be playing as a person living a life. However, she felt very lost and alone in a world that everyone else seemed to take so seriously. After years of searching to find a way out of this pain, she met a German Zen master in India. With her, Unmani recognized that what she had been searching for had always been right here. She woke up to the dream, time stopped and the search ended. Unmani began holding meetings and retreats in Not-Knowing 3 years later. Unmani is the author of two books ‘I am Life itself’ and ‘Die to Love’ and is now writing a third book. www.die-to-love.com.
