Gestures of stillness: A yoga/movement workshop in the non-dual perspective.

Many of us have a clear understanding that "I" does not refer to a separate, located, limited person, but rather to open, unlocated, unlimited Awareness, However, in ordinary every day life, most of us still feel that "I” walk towards” you” through space, that "I" sit on a chair, "I" am this body, alive and conscious while the space all around and the earth underneath is inert other, dead matter. We still feel that "I" am located in this contraction in the chest, in the shoulders, behind the forehead, and that "I" and this intimate and familiar experience called body are one and the same

This workshop is an invitation to experience our body as it truly is: a flow of sensations, appearing unfolding and dissolving within the pure openness of awareness. Using simple postures, breathing exercises, visualizations, and movement explorations, we reacquaint ourselves with our body directly, free of concepts or images.

In this contemplation, resistances, and chains of bodily contractions, the habits that create the illusion that our identity is limited, located and separate are revealed for what they are: simple sensations that come and go in awareness. We come to see and feel that our true identity is pure openness, limitless and permanent. Gently and effortlessly, the body is slowly realigned with this felt understanding. It flows with natural ease and transparency and reflects and expresses the ever-present joy and relaxation that is its source and substance.

Ellen Emmet Ellen met her teacher Francis Lucille in 2001. She heard and received the direct transmission of the non-dual truth in conversations, in body awareness sessions and during many friendly encounters over the next years. Today she continues her practice as a psychotherapist, allowing her background of Dance-Movement Therapy, and Transpersonal Psychology to be permeated and to express the non-dual understanding.
